South Carolina, Florida Lawmakers Launch Rival Bids To Oust Each Other From Congress

The long-simmering friction between Republican Representatives Nancy Mace of South Carolina and Cory Mills of Florida has boiled over into an all-out legislative war, with both lawmakers now actively seeking each other’s expulsion from the House of Representatives.

The escalation hit a turning point Monday evening when Mace officially announced via X that she had introduced a resolution to remove Mills from office, a move that comes as Mills reportedly prepares his own measure to oust her.

The animosity between the two is not new—Mace previously attempted to censure Mills in late 2025—but the rhetoric has reached a fever pitch. According to reports from NOTUS, Mills has already drafted an expulsion resolution against Mace.

Sources indicate his measure will likely focus on an incident at Charleston International Airport where Mace allegedly confronted TSA officials and security officers, reportedly calling them “f*cking incompetent.”

Mace, however, frames the move by the Florida congressman as a defensive maneuver. “Cory Mills is the worst kind of pond scum in Congress and I realize this is an insult to pond scum,” Mace said. “He chose to come after me days after my father passed away, a real war hero, something Mills would not know anything about since he lied about his military record for years. He needs to be expelled IMMEDIATELY.”

The South Carolina Republican further alleged that Mills is only targeting her because “he knows he’s next,” citing a litany of controversies surrounding his background. These include allegations regarding his military service record, a restraining order filed by a former girlfriend, and questions about whether he improperly maintained federal contracts while serving in Congress.

Mills has previously faced a House Ethics Committee investigation and narrowly avoided a formal rebuke in November when House Republicans blocked an earlier effort by Mace to strip him of his committee assignments.

Mills’ own history has been under a microscope following reports from The Blaze and independent journalists. Allegations against him range from claims of embellishing his Bronze Star account to financial issues involving a luxury Washington, D.C., penthouse with a monthly rent exceeding $20,800.

Additionally, his former girlfriend, 2024 Miss United States winner Lindsey Langston, reportedly sought a restraining order against him over allegations involving the threatened release of explicit videos.

On the other side of the aisle, Mills’ supporters point to Mace’s own headlines as justification for her removal. Beyond the airport confrontation, Mace made waves during a House Oversight subcommittee hearing in May by displaying nude images of herself.

She argued the photos were taken and shared without her consent via hidden cameras, using the moment to call for stronger privacy protections, though the move drew significant national attention and criticism from some colleagues.

This intra-party feud reignited just as the House is reeling from the recent resignations of Representatives Eric Swalwell and Tony Gonzales following misconduct allegations.

As both Mace and Mills move forward with their respective resolutions, the House finds itself in the rare position of weighing expulsion measures for two members of the same party simultaneously.
