School Staffer Accused of Deploying Fecal-Scented Spray, Causing Over $55K in Damages
A bizarre case of “fowl play” has concluded with the arrest of a West Florence High School teaching assistant.
Alexander Paul Robertson Lewis, 32, is facing charges after investigators allege he repeatedly sprayed a foul, fecal-scented substance inside the school, causing significant disruption and damage.
According to the Florence County Sheriff’s Office (FCSO), the mystery odor plagued the school from late August through mid-September.
The persistent stench led to multiple students needing medical care for respiratory issues and forced the school to rack up over $55,000 in repair costs, primarily to its air conditioning system. Investigators believe Lewis, a resident of Florence, acquired the ‘special’ spray online.
Lewis was arrested on September 19 and is being held at the Florence County Detention Center. He’s been charged with Disturbing Schools (non-student) and Malicious Injury to Property ($10,000 or more). The investigation is ongoing, and authorities haven’t ruled out additional charges.
The motive behind the alleged pranks remains unclear, but what started as a smelly mystery has now become a serious criminal case. Lewis is currently awaiting a bond hearing.
