South Carolina Sen. Graham Shrugs Off Trump’s ‘Civilization’ Warning: “I Could Care Less”

Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) dismissed concerns on Tuesday regarding President Trump’s recent rhetoric toward Iran, specifically a threat suggesting the end of the nation’s civilization.

During a gaggle with reporters, the South Carolina Republican made it clear that he prioritizes strategic results over the specific language used by the White House when dealing with the Iranian regime.

When asked about Republican colleagues who expressed discomfort with the President’s statement that an entire civilization could “die,” Graham was direct. “I’m actually okay with the way he’s talking to a bunch of terrorists,” Graham said. “I could care less what words he uses. I want outcomes.”

The Senator’s remarks come amid high-stakes tensions and discussions regarding ceasefire extensions and nuclear negotiations.

While Graham noted that the U.S. would comply with the law of war, he warned that “all hell’s about to break loose on this regime” if an agreement isn’t reached. He framed the President’s stance as an ultimatum for the country’s future, stating that Trump is offering Iran the ability to exist as a nation, but not as a state sponsor of terrorism.

Graham also laid out firm conditions for any potential deal, emphasizing that there should be no moratorium on uranium enrichment—there should be no enrichment at all.

Pointing to the 900 pounds of highly enriched uranium currently in Iran’s possession, Graham insisted it must be under U.S. control. He also demanded that the Strait of Hormuz remain open without future interference.

As negotiations continue, Graham expressed concern that Iran might attempt to “drag it out.” He urged the President to stick to his timeline, suggesting that if a deal acceptable to the administration is not met, the President should “finish the job.”
