DUNEDIN, Fla. – A morning fire involving several electric mobility devices brought emergency crews racing to the Golden Crest Mobile Home Park on Tuesday, drawing a rapid response to contain the flames before they could destroy a local residence.
Dunedin Fire Rescue dispatchers received a call at approximately 8:25 a.m. regarding an electric bicycle on fire in the area of 800 Main Street, Lot 429. As firefighters rushed to the scene, emergency dispatchers quickly upgraded the incident to a structure fire following reports that the flames had spread under the home’s carport.
First responders arrived at the mobile home park in less than four minutes. Upon arrival, crews discovered that the fire had expanded to involve multiple electric mobility devices parked together, including several electric bicycles, an electric tricycle, and an electric scooter.

Firefighters immediately deployed hose lines to battle the burning lithium-powered vehicles. Crews managed to contain the bulk of the fire to the exterior, stopping the flames from making a significant breakthrough into the main living quarters.
Three residents were inside the home when the fire broke out, but all three managed to evacuate the structure safely. Paramedics evaluated one individual at the scene, who ultimately refused further medical treatment. Officials confirmed that no firefighters were injured during the response.
The fire was brought completely under control within minutes. While the carport area sustained the majority of the damage, the interior of the home suffered only minor extension. Fire investigators noted that the blaze does not appear suspicious in nature.
