A heated exchange on CNN’s Newsnight unfolded after veteran GOP strategist Scott Jennings and progressive influencer Adam Mockler reached a breaking point during a debate over military intervention.
While social media clips focused on a final, profanity-laced outburst, the full segment revealed a series of personal jabs and escalating tensions that simmered long before the cameras caught the worst of it.
The conflict began during a discussion on the costs and concessions of an ongoing conflict. Mockler repeatedly pressed Jennings to name a single political concession gained from the enemy, asserting that the strategist couldn’t name one. Jennings, appearing visibly irritated, eventually responded by dismissing Mockler’s age.
“When you get up past your bedtime, you get hyper,” Jennings remarked, prompting anchor Abby Phillip to step in and discourage the personal attacks. Mockler fired back, noting, “You’re shaking.”

The tension spiked again moments later as the panel debated the history of the aggression. After Mockler referenced Jennings’ past work in previous administrations and criticized his defense of “endless wars,” Jennings questioned Mockler’s perspective on time.
When Mockler reminded Jennings of a previous debate where a six-week timeline was suggested, Jennings retorted, “You have the attention span of a gnat.”
The situation finally boiled over when Mockler gestured toward Jennings while demanding an answer.
Jennings shouted, “Get your f–king hand out of my face!” and told the panel he would not tolerate Mockler’s physical action. The outburst forced Phillip to pause the segment and call for calm, while fellow panelist Geraldo Rivera joked about the scene being a flashback to his own infamous studio brawls of the past.
Despite the flare-up, Jennings eventually pivoted back to his policy stance, stating the goal of the mission was to prevent a terrorist regime from obtaining nuclear weapons.
Mockler concluded the exchange by claiming the lack of a direct answer to his original question was the reason for Jennings’ frustration, saying, “I would get mad too.”
