Speeding Tampa Motorcyclist Collides With Turning SUV In Fatal Pasco County Crash

PASCO COUNTY, Fla. – An afternoon ride turned tragic in Pasco County on Saturday when a motorcyclist lost his life in a violent collision on State Road 54.

According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the incident occurred at approximately 3:10 PM. A 20-year-old man from Tampa was riding a Kawasaki motorcycle westbound on SR-54, moving at what state troopers described as “a high rate of speed.”

At the same time, a 53-year-old man from New Port Richey was driving eastbound on SR-54 in a Chevy Suburban.

As both vehicles approached the intersection of Player Drive, the driver of the Suburban attempted to make a left turn. In doing so, the SUV turned directly “into the path of and was struck by” the oncoming motorcycle.

The impact left the motorcyclist with severe injuries. First responders arrived at the scene and rushed him to a local area hospital. Despite medical efforts, the motorcyclist later died from the injuries he sustained during the crash.

Authorities have not released the names of either driver involved as the investigation continues.
