Spring Hill Home Damaged In Early Morning Fire

SPRING HILL, FL. – A Spring Hill home was severely damaged in a Saturday morning blaze according to Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services.

According to officials, at 6:04 a.m. Hernando County Fire and Emergency Services (HCFES) responded to a reported residential fire in the 3000 block of Hargrove St.

The call came in by an adult occupant who reported a fire in the back hallway and rear bedroom of the single-wide manufactured home. All occupants exited the house and alerted the fire department.

The first engine arrived within 5 minutes and reported a single-story manufactured home with heavy smoke and fire in the rear of the structure.  Access to the home was hindered because of the windows and doors being boarded up.

The crew advanced a hose stream through the front door and brought the fire under control within 4 minutes.

The fire resulted in heavy damage to the home, and there were no working smoke detectors to alert the occupants.

The origin of the fire was reported to have started in the rear bedroom around the vicinity of a window-mounted air conditioning unit.

The Florida State Fire Marshall was notified of the origin and cause of the fire. The displaced occupants were referred to the Red Cross for assistance.
