St.Pete Police Make Arrest in Monday’s Shooting Homicide

SAINT PETERSBURG, Fla. – St, Petersburg Police have arrested and charged 24-year-old Javier L. Evans, in the shooting death of Antonio Martez Long, 30.

On Monday, St. Petersburg Police police responded to a call of a person shot at 1743 Yale St. South around 11:30 AM. When officers arrived, they found a deceased adult man, inside the house at that address. Investigators say the suspect fled the scene.

Through the investigation, detectives identified Javier Evans, as the suspect in the shooting.  The two men knew each other, according to police, and Long had allowed Evans to stay at the house on Yale St.

On Monday night just after 11:30 PM, police arrested and charged Evans with 2nd Degree Murder.
