Authorities find remains of two cats and a dog, rescue severely neglected feline from Northeast St. Pete home.
ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – St. Petersburg Police officers have arrested Keith Robertson, 55, on four counts of cruelty to animals after a disturbing discovery inside his residence at 164 44th Ave. NE. The remains of two cats and a dog were found in advanced stages of decomposition within the home, prompting the severe charges.
The grim find occurred on Saturday, July 5, 2025, when St. Petersburg police and Pinellas County Animal Services responded to Robertson’s home. Authorities were acting on neighbor complaints regarding potential animal neglect at the property.

Upon entering the house to conduct a well-being check, officers encountered a horrific scene. In addition to the deceased animals, a third cat was found alive but in extremely poor condition, described as starved and heavily infested with fleas.
Pinellas County Animal Services immediately took possession of the surviving cat. The animal is currently receiving urgent veterinary care and treatment for its severe neglect.

Robertson was taken into custody following the discovery. He faces serious charges related to the alleged mistreatment and neglect of the animals in his care. The investigation is ongoing.
