ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – St. Petersburg drivers heading north late Tuesday night will need to find a different way onto the highway. The entrance ramp from 38th Avenue N to northbound I-275 is scheduled to shut down starting at 11 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10.

Transportation officials expect the ramp to remain closed until 5 a.m. on Wednesday, March 11. The work depends on the weather, so heavy rain could delay the project.

For those needing to get on the interstate during these six hours, a detour will be in place. Drivers should travel north on US 19 (34th Street N) and turn right onto the ramp for eastbound Gandy Boulevard (SR 694). From there, motorists can take the exit on the right toward I-275.

Once on that ramp, drivers are instructed to stay in one of the two left lanes at the fork to successfully merge onto the northbound I-275.

Signs will be posted to help guide traffic through the alternate route while the 38th Avenue N ramp is blocked off.
