ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — Drivers heading into downtown St. Petersburg late next week should prepare for a detour.
Starting Monday, December 1, and continuing through Tuesday, December 2, the eastbound I-175 exit ramp to 6th Street South will be closed overnight. Crews are scheduled to shut down the ramp from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. each night, weather permitting.
The closure is necessary for crews to continue work on the ongoing concrete pavement repair project spanning from 16th Street South to 4th Street South. The entire project is slated for completion in late 2025.

The Detour Route If you are on the road during these hours, you’ll have to skip the usual exit. Instead, continue east on I-175 and take the exit for 4th Street South. From there:
- Make a left onto 4th Street South.
- Make another left onto 4th Avenue South.
- Follow 4th Avenue South back toward 6th Street South.
Electronic message boards and signage will be in place to guide traffic, but officials warn that delays and congestion are likely during the closure windows.
