Stick-Swinging Stranger Charged After Threatening Elderly Man In Haines City Yard

POLK COUNTY, Fla. – A 51-year-old man is facing felony charges after authorities say he cornered a senior citizen with a stick at a Haines City mobile home park on Monday.

Polk County deputies were dispatched to the Williams Mobile Home Park, located off US 17/92, around 5 p.m. following a distress call from a resident. The 71-year-old victim told investigators he was standing in his yard when a stranger began advancing toward him.

According to the report, the man was yelling and swinging a stick in a “threatening manner” as he approached the victim.

Responding deputies located the suspect, identified as Antonio Juan Cruz-Criado, on nearby Fletcher Fish Camp Road. Cruz-Criado, who lives approximately five miles from the scene of the incident, refused to speak with law enforcement regarding the allegations.

He was subsequently arrested and charged with Aggravated Assault on a Person 65 Years or Older.
