ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. – A stolen vehicle crashed into a residential home early Monday morning, causing a fire and significant property damage before the driver fled the scene.
According to the St. Petersburg Police Department, the incident occurred at approximately 3 a.m. on 14th Avenue South. A Honda Accord struck a house and subsequently caught fire.
The residents of the home evacuated the structure safely, and no injuries were reported. However, police stated that the house sustained severe structural damage as a result of the collision.
Following the crash, the driver of the Honda Accord fled the scene on foot. Authorities confirmed that the suspect remains at large.
During the initial investigation, police determined that the vehicle involved had been stolen overnight from the 2100 block of 9th Avenue South.
The St. Petersburg Police Department stated that the investigation into the incident is active and ongoing.
