HILLSBOROUGH COUNTY, Fla. – The Hillsborough County Public Library Cooperative is rolling out a diverse array of engaging, entertaining, and informative free programs for the entire family throughout November. From history deep dives to teen skill-building and seasonal crafts, there’s something to spark curiosity and fun for all ages.
👨👩👧👦 Events for Teens and Children
Teens can boost their professional game at “Library Resources for Your Job Search for Teens” on Monday, Nov. 3, at the Robert W. Saunders, Sr. Public Library. Literary discussions continue with a book discussion on “Firekeeper’s Daughter” by Angeline Boulley on Tuesday, Nov. 4, at Jan Kaminis Platt Regional Library. For the budding scientist, “Colors in a Leaf” on Wednesday, Nov. 12, at the Town ‘N Country Regional Public Library, will explore chromatography.
Younger children are invited to a magical journey with “Star Stories: A Shadow Puppet Show” on Monday, Nov. 4, at Jan Kaminis Platt Regional Library, followed by the fun-filled “Turkeys, Wild Fun!” craft and history session on Monday, Nov. 17, at the North Tampa Branch Library. Imagination takes flight with a Children’s Theatre performance of “Sylvia South and the Word Catcher” on Saturday, Nov. 15, at Town ‘N Country Regional Public Library, and the “Here There Be Dragons (Kids)” craft event on Thursday, Nov. 20.
🧑🏫 Local History and Adult Enrichment
Adults have the chance to explore local heritage with the Tampa Bay History Center. They will present “Florida’s First People” on Thursday, Nov. 13, at the Bloomingdale Regional Public Library, and the history of “MacDill Air Force Base” on Saturday, Nov. 15, at the New Tampa Regional Library, detailing its evolution from a rattlesnake-infested forest to a global war-fighting hub.
For the readers and homebodies, the “Holiday Reads Genre Party” on Friday, Nov. 14, at the Thonotosassa Branch Library, welcomes fans of all holiday themes for games and writing challenges. Green thumbs can learn about sustainable gardening at the “Master Gardener – Edible Landscaping” session on Saturday, Nov. 22, at the North Tampa Branch Library.
🗓️ Holiday Closings Reminder
The Library Cooperative reminds patrons of upcoming closures:
- Veterans Day: All libraries will be closed on Nov. 11.
- Thanksgiving: All locations will be open until 6 p.m. from Nov. 24 through Nov. 26. All locations will be closed on Nov. 27 and Nov. 28. Most will be closed on Nov. 29, with the exception of the Temple Terrace Public Library.
