Storms And Sun: Tampa Bay Faces Active Week Of Shifting Skies

TAMPA, Fla. – Residents across the Tampa Bay area should prepare for a week of contrasting weather conditions as a stretch of sunny days gives way to mid-week storm chances and high-reaching temperatures.

Monday begins with clear conditions and a high near 80°F. Winds will remain light, shifting from the west-southwest to the west-northwest at 5 to 10 mph by the afternoon. Overnight, the sky stays mostly clear with a low of 59°F, though patchy fog is expected to develop after 5:00 a.m.

The forecast turns more active on Tuesday. After morning fog clears by 10:00 a.m., temperatures are expected to climb to 85°F.

The National Weather Service reports a 30% chance of showers between 2:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m., with thunderstorms possible later in the evening. This trend continues into Tuesday night, with a lingering 30% chance of precipitation before 8:00 p.m. and a low of 62°F.

Similar patterns will hold through mid-week. Wednesday and Wednesday night both carry a 30% chance of rain and thunderstorms, primarily in the late afternoon and early evening hours. Highs will reach 82°F under partly sunny skies, dropping to 61°F at night.

The latter half of the week marks a return to dry, warm conditions:

  • Thursday: Sunny with a high of 86°F. Overnight lows will hover around 60°F with early morning fog returning Friday.
  • Friday: Mostly sunny and the warmest day of the week, with a high of 87°F.
  • Saturday: Temperatures remain steady with a high of 86°F under clear skies.
  • Sunday: A cold front appears to move through, bringing breezy conditions and a noticeable drop in temperature, with a high of 78°F.

Travelers should remain alert for visibility issues during early morning commutes due to several nights of projected patchy fog. Additionally, a wide array of lane closures are scheduled this week across I-75, I-275, and US 301 for repaving and bridge maintenance.
