A Daytona Beach man who turned a quiet morning into a deadly shooting spree will spend the rest of his life behind bars. Jerome Anderson appeared in court Monday morning and entered no-contest pleas to three counts of first-degree murder with a firearm.
Following the plea, the judge handed down three consecutive life sentences, ensuring Anderson remains in state prison for the duration of his natural life.
The legal resolution stems from a violent series of events on July 12, 2023. According to investigators, the violence began inside a home on Park Drive, where Anderson shot his roommate. The bloodshed then spilled out into the neighborhood.
Witnesses told police that Anderson walked into the street and targeted two more men.
Surveillance footage captured the harrowing final moments of one victim, showing Anderson chasing him into the roadway and continuing to fire even after the man had fallen to the ground.

Autopsy reports confirmed that all three victims were shot multiple times.
In the aftermath of the killings, a witness provided detectives with a possible motive, reporting that Anderson had been involved in a heated argument with the victims the night before at a nearby convenience store.
During that confrontation, Anderson allegedly threatened to kill them. When later questioned by the Daytona Beach Police Department, Anderson admitted to the shootings.
“The defendant is a dangerous and violent offender,” State Attorney R.J. Larizza said. “Removing him from our community was essential to our duty to protect you and your family.”
The case was prosecuted by Assistant State Attorney Andrew Urbanak, with the final sentence pronounced by the Honorable Kathryn Weston.
