MANATEE COUNTY, Fla. – A sub-contractor was working on a residential sewer line in a new construction neighborhood off Moccasin Wallow Road in Manatee County when he became entrapped in a trench.

According to officials, the man tried to work himself out of the situation for over an hour, eventually realizing he needed assistance.

Local resources responded but soon discovered that more specialized assets were needed.

The State of Florida authorized Hillsborough County Fire Rescue’s technical rescue team to deploy to the scene, and HCFR dispatched their units at approximately 8:32 PM last night.

Crews worked together for over 5 hours to free the victim, who was transported to TGH in stable condition.
