THE VILLAGES, Fla. — A Monday morning drive turned tragic when an 88-year-old resident lost his life following a medical episode behind the wheel.
According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP), the accident occurred at approximately 7:55 a.m. on January 19, 2026. The man was traveling northbound on North Buena Vista Boulevard in a GMC Terrain.
Troopers say that as the driver approached the area near Talley Ridge Drive, he suffered a sudden medical emergency. The event caused him to lose control of the SUV.

The vehicle veered off the roadway, tearing through a traffic sign and several bushes before finally crashing into a tree.
Emergency responders arrived on the scene and transported the driver to a nearby hospital for treatment. Despite medical efforts, FHP confirmed that the man passed away later that same day.
No other vehicles or injuries were reported in connection with the crash.
