The cause and origin of the fire were found to be an extension cord plugged into an interior outlet leading to an outdoor shed. Because of the extensive damage to the structure, the home was a total loss.

Officials say that besides the loss of the structure, the occupant’s dog also died in the fire.

“The occupant will be staying with relatives who live nearby,” said HCFES.

HCFES responded with 3 fire engines, 2 ALS medic units, 2 Water Tenders, 1 Air/Light Truck, and 2 Battalion Chief.  There was total of 17 fire personnel on scene.
