TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa investigators are working to piece together the events that led to a fatal shooting in a Tampa neighborhood Sunday night.
The incident began shortly before 8:15 p.m. on April 19, when Tampa Police officers were called to the 2100 block of West Palmetto Street. Callers had reported a shooting in the area, and arriving units found a man suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency crews rushed the victim to a nearby hospital with life-threatening injuries, but authorities confirmed he passed away early Monday morning.
At this stage, the department has not released the identity of the victim or a description of any potential suspects. Investigators are currently focused on determining what exactly happened in the moments leading up to the gunfire.

“Detectives are seeking to speak with anyone who was in the area at the time of the shooting as they gather evidence and work to determine the circumstances surrounding the shooting,” the department stated in an official release.
The investigation remains active, and police are asking the public for help. Anyone who might have seen something or has video from the area is urged to contact the Tampa Police Department at 813-231-6130. Further updates are expected as the case progresses.
