POLK COUNTY, Fla. – Sunday evening at a Davenport Wawa turned chaotic when a group of teenagers reportedly began disrupting business operations, leading to the arrest of an 18-year-old. Deputies from the Polk County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the convenience store located at 43582 US 27 at approximately 7:58 p.m. on March 8, 2026.

According to witness reports and law enforcement, one specific individual in the group was observed yelling at customers inside the store and using racist language.

By the time a deputy arrived on the scene, the group had already exited the building. Witnesses pointed out the primary offender to the deputy, who then attempted to initiate contact by calling out to him.

The suspect initially ignored the deputy’s commands, continuing to walk toward the neighboring Chick-fil-A, which was closed at the time.

When the deputy issued a second order to stop, the suspect complied but responded by yelling profanities at the deputy.

The individual was identified as Carlton Brice, 18, of Tampa.

Brice was taken into custody and transported to the Sheriff’s Processing Center.

Records show he has been charged with second-degree misdemeanor disorderly conduct and first-degree misdemeanor resisting an officer without violence.
