ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. — A man wanted in connection with a kidnapping and carjacking that took place earlier this month has turned himself in to authorities.

Jahvontae Bell, 26, surrendered to police this morning. He is charged with kidnapping, carjacking, and aggravated stalking. The charges stem from an incident on September 1, when Bell allegedly forced his former girlfriend, Jayanna Clark, into her own car in the parking lot of the Crescent Lane Apartments on Gandy Boulevard.

Clark was seen having an altercation with a man, later identified as Bell, at approximately 7:15 a.m. Witnesses reported that he forced her into a vehicle and drove away. St. Petersburg police issued a media alert, listing Clark as a missing and endangered person.

The following morning, on September 2, Clark was located in Clearwater and returned home by officers. Detectives had been actively searching for Bell since the incident.

He is now in police custody awaiting his first court appearance.
