TAMPA, FL. – The 4-year-old boy, Terry Reed, from Wednesday’s Florida Amber Alert was located safe overnight. Details about what happened have been revealed.
According to Tampa Police Department, Kami George, who is Terry Reed’s biological mother, and Matthew Leighton, the mother’s boyfriend, were arrested and each charged with Aggravated Battery with a Deadly Weapon, Armed Kidnapping, and Interference with Custody.
Police say the couple showed up at Terry’s daycare facility on Wednesday, while his foster parent was picking him up.
Leighton held Terry’s foster parent at knifepoint while George removed him from the victim’s car. Leighton and George fled with Terry, injuring the foster parent with their car’s door in the process.
Investigators say the trio was located by law enforcement officials in Taylor County several hours later.
The investigation is ongoing and additional charges are possible.
