The gun control advocacy group Brady has removed all mentions of Representative Eric Swalwell from its official website and YouTube channel following allegations that the congressman assaulted a female aide.
The digital cleanup occurred shortly after the New York Post reported on Swalwell’s attendance at a 2024 Brady gala awards event, the same night the alleged incident took place.
Swalwell, a longtime ally of the organization, had previously received the group’s endorsement and served as a guest speaker at high-profile events. In response to the emerging scandal, Brady has not only scrubbed its archives but has also publicly called for the congressman’s resignation.
The Citizens Committee for the Right to Keep and Bear Arms (CCRKBA) issued a statement regarding the move, arguing that the organization is attempting to distance itself from a tarnished partnership.
CCRKBA Chairman Alan Gottlieb noted that while Swalwell deserves due process, the quick removal of his name reflects a “cowardly and futile” attempt to erase a long-standing political relationship.

“Brady United and Swalwell were best friends until these lurid allegations surfaced,” Gottlieb said. He pointed out the irony in the group’s actions, suggesting that while the organization pushes for strict background checks on gun owners, they failed to vet their own associates. “Instead, maybe they should background check who they work with,” he added.
Gottlieb further criticized the group’s sudden pivot, stating that they “happily supported his gun ban proposals” for years before trying to make the association disappear.
He characterized the group’s behavior as “shooting him in the back and burying him in an unmarked grave” to protect their own reputation.
Despite the removal of the gala video and website references, critics argue the association remains a matter of public record. “History has recorded their past association,” Gottlieb concluded, “and that’s a stain you cannot wash away.”
In a statement on Saturday, Brady United said, “We unequivocally believe the courageous women who have shared their experiences of sexual harassment and assault by Rep. Eric Swalwell. The detailed reporting of their accounts makes strikingly clear that Swalwell is unfit for office.
Swalwell’s desperate denials, victim-blaming, and legal scare tactics are far too commonly used to smear victims of sexual abuse while chilling others from coming forward. Let that stop now. As one of the victims bravely noted, the ‘only person’ Eric Swalwell has to blame for the accountability he now faces is Eric Swalwell.
There is only one right response: Eric Swalwell must resign from Congress and drop out of the California governor’s race now.”
