Social media is buzzing about area protests outside of the city limits today. Both the Riverview area (301 and Big Bend) as well as Wesley Chapel are being named.

With all of the peaceful protests around the country, being overs-shadowed by looting and rioting, store owners are concerned with damage to their places of business.

We spoke with Laura Nation who owns, Oops-A-Daisy, on Big Bed Road in Gibsonton, she said, “We have adjusted our hours with reopening from COVID-19, and close today at 3 PM as we have been. But if we didn’t have adjusted hours in place, we would still close at 3 PM today.”

Nation added, “I just don’t want anything to happen to my little flower shop.”

We spoke with the Pasco Sheriff’s Assistant Executive Director Chase Daniels regarding the social media chatter, “We are aware of the social media posts about possible protests, but have yet to see any large scale in Pasco. Our members stand ready to assist though, should any occur.”

We will update this story as information comes in.
