TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Bay residents should keep their umbrellas handy for one more afternoon before a prolonged dry spell takes over the region. Local forecasts indicate a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms today, primarily after 1 p.m.
While the sky will remain partly sunny with a high near 78, breezy conditions are expected as east-northeast winds blow between 11 and 16 mph, bringing gusts reaching up to 24 mph.
As the sun sets tonight, the rain chances will taper off. The evening will be partly cloudy with a low of 61 degrees. Winds will remain active, gusting as high as 21 mph.
The remainder of the week signals a significant shift toward consistent sunshine and climbing temperatures.

Friday will be clear and sunny with a high near 83, followed by a mostly clear night dropping to 59. That trend continues through the weekend, with Saturday seeing a high of 83 and Sunday reaching 86 degrees.
By the start of the work week, the warmth will intensify.
Monday’s forecast calls for full sun and a high of 87. Meteorologists expect the peak of this trend on Tuesday and Wednesday, with daytime highs reaching approximately 88 degrees under sunny skies. Overnight lows throughout the week will remain steady in the low 60s, providing mild evenings across the Bay area.
