TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay Lightning announced their regular-season schedule for the 2026-27 season on Thursday, revealing an expanded 84-game format instead of the traditional 82 games. The upcoming campaign, presented by AdventHealth, splits evenly with 42 games at home and 42 on the road.
Tampa Bay will open the season on the road Thursday, October 1, against the New York Rangers at Madison Square Garden. The team will then return to Tampa for their home opener at Benchmark International Arena on Saturday, October 3, against the Washington Capitals.
Under the new schedule structure, the Lightning are set to play 28 divisional games, facing each Atlantic Division opponent four times. They will also play 24 games against the Metropolitan Division and 32 games against Western Conference teams.
The schedule features 13 sets of back-to-back games for the Bolts. Eight of those sets will take place entirely on the road, four will be split between home and away, and one back-to-back sequence will be played entirely at home.
December stands out as the busiest stretch of the year with 15 total games, while March and December will see the most travel with eight road games each. Conversely, November will keep the team local for most of the month, featuring a season-high eight home contests. The calendar includes two separate six-game homestands, running from November 14 through November 27 and again from February 12 through February 23. The longest road trips of the year will cap out at four games, occurring four different times.
Several notable matchups are on the slate for the upcoming season. The reigning Stanley Cup Champion Carolina Hurricanes are scheduled for their single visit to Tampa on November 25. Fans looking forward to the cross-state rivalry against the Florida Panthers will have to wait until 2027, as the Panthers do not visit Benchmark International Arena until February 16 and March 23. Additionally, the Lightning will host a pair of home rematches against their 2026 first-round playoff opponent, the Montreal Canadiens, on December 31 and April 8.
Single-game tickets are scheduled to go on sale to the general public on Friday, August 14 at 10 a.m. Special single-game pre-sales will take place earlier that week, beginning August 10, with individual pre-sale groups receiving direct notification of their specific purchasing windows.
