Tampa Bay Rays Hand Out Free Cash To Every Fan At The Trop This April

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -The Tampa Bay Rays are looking to fill the stands this spring with a new “First One’s On Us” promotion that puts money directly back into the pockets of ticket holders.

Announced by CEO Ken Babby during a community listening session at Press Box Sports in Tampa, the deal ensures that every fan walking into Tropicana Field for a home game in April will receive $10 in virtual currency, dubbed “Burst Bucks.”

This credit isn’t just for show; it acts as a digital voucher that can be spent on anything from a stadium hot dog to a new team hat. According to the team, the promotion is a nod to the local fanbase following a period of transition.

“On behalf of our new ownership group and this exciting new moment for our franchise, we really wanted to do something special for the community to welcome them back to Tropicana Field and reward the resilience they’ve shown over the past eighteen months,” Babby said. “This is our way of saying thank you.”

The logistics are straightforward but come with a few specific rules. The $10 credit is tied to the individual ticket and is valid for any home game scheduled throughout the month of April. However, fans need to use the money before the final out, as the Burst Bucks expire at the end of each specific game.

For those buying tickets for friends or family, the team confirmed that if a ticket is forwarded or transferred to someone else, the $10 credit moves right along with it.

To actually spend the money, fans will need to use the MLB Ballpark app. The “Rays Wallet” feature inside the app generates a single QR code that stadium staff can scan at checkout.

This scan automatically applies the Burst Bucks to the total, along with any other eligible discounts. Fans can link a credit or debit card to the app to cover any remaining balance on their purchase.
