TAMPA, Fla. – The Rays will send two players to the All-Star Game in Atlanta on July 15. MLB announced Sunday that first baseman Jonathan Aranda and second baseman Brandon Lowe will join other American League all-stars at Truist Park.

Aranda is enjoying an exceptional first full season in the big leagues, while Lowe will make his second all-star appearance to go along with 2019 in Cleveland.

Jonathan Aranda
After cameos with the Rays in 2022 and 2023 and an injury-riddled 2024 that limited him to 44 games, the 27-year-old lefty hitter had a strong and healthy spring. He not only carried the momentum into the season, but has been among MLB’s top hitters, having lifted his average as high as .332 on June 24.

A slow start to July brought his average down to .315 before a three-hit game in Sunday’s 7-5, 10-inning win in Minnesota lifted it to .320, good for fourth in the American League. Aranda, who has 10 homers, 47 RBI and has fielded his position very well at first base, has an .879 OPS that is tied for sixth in the AL.

Brandon Lowe
The only thing to slow the second baseman was soreness in his left side that ended his day after two innings and one at-bat Sunday, his 31st birthday. Lowe struck out in his only at-bat to end a 20-game hitting streak, which is tied with Yandy Diaz for the longest in team history.

Lowe leads MLB second basemen with 50 RBI, and his 19 homers are tied with Arizona’s Ketel Marte. Lowe was hitting .190 on May 13 before hitting safely in the final 13 games of the month. He then hit .337 with seven homers in June and heads to a three-game series in Detroit batting .272.
