TAMPA, Fla. – Residents across the Tampa Bay area should prepare for a string of hot, dry days before a shift in the weather pattern arrives early next week. Thursday sets the tone with clear skies and a high reaching 91 degrees.
While the morning starts with light, variable winds, a west-southwest breeze will pick up between 8 and 13 mph, potentially bringing gusts as strong as 21 mph. The evening will offer some relief as clouds move in and temperatures dip to a low of 73 degrees.
The heat intensifies on Friday, with the mercury climbing to 92 degrees. However, high humidity will make it feel significantly hotter, with heat index values projected to peak at 97. Winds will remain relatively calm in the morning before shifting west at 5 to 9 mph. Friday night is expected to be mostly cloudy with a low near 72.
The upcoming weekend maintains this hot streak. Saturday and Sunday will both see highs near 92 degrees under partly sunny skies.

Afternoon wind gusts could reach 18 mph on Saturday and 21 mph on Sunday. By late Sunday night, the first signs of a transition appear, as a 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms develops after 2 a.m., accompanied by a low of 74.
The most significant change in the forecast arrives Monday. There is a 50 percent chance of rain and thunderstorms, with the highest likelihood of activity falling between 8 a.m. and 2 p.m.
This shift will bring slightly cooler air, capping the high at 88 degrees. Skies will remain mostly cloudy through Monday night, though the chance of precipitation drops to 10 percent after 8 p.m., with temperatures cooling to a low of 68.
Looking ahead to mid-week, the region will dry out quickly. Tuesday is forecasted to be mostly sunny with a high of 90, followed by a clear Tuesday night with a low of 66. By Wednesday, full sunshine returns as temperatures climb back to an expected high of 92 degrees.
