TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Bay region is in for a hot, humid stretch over the next several days, featuring high temperatures in the mid-to-upper 90s and persistent chances of afternoon thunderstorms. Today brings a 40 percent chance of rain, mostly concentrated between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m.
Despite the potential for wet weather, it will stay mostly sunny and hot, with actual temperatures topping out near 95 degrees. High humidity will make it feel significantly warmer, driving heat index values as high as 105 degrees. Winds will remain light, starting calm before shifting to the west at 5 to 8 mph.
Tonight, rain chances drop to 10 percent before tapering off completely after 8 p.m. Skies will turn mostly clear with a low temperature hovering near 79 degrees. Heading into Thursday, the region will see a slight dip in the heat index, which is expected to peak around 102 degrees.
Thursday’s high will hit 95 degrees under sunny skies, with a 20 percent chance of rain split between the early morning hours and the late afternoon. Thursday night brings a brief 10 percent chance of a storm between 7 p.m. and 8 p.m., with an overnight low of 79.
The heat intensifies slightly as the weekend approaches. Friday’s high will reach 96 degrees, followed by 97 degrees on both Saturday and Sunday. Each day follows a matching summer pattern: sunny mornings giving way to a 30 percent chance of scattered showers and thunderstorms after 2 p.m. Overnight temperatures during this period will offer little relief, remaining locked between 79 and 81 degrees under partly cloudy to mostly clear skies.
Looking ahead to next week, the highest temperature of the forecast arrives on Monday, with daytime highs expected to climb near 98 degrees alongside a 40 percent chance of storms. By Tuesday, while the peak temperature drops slightly to 96 degrees, showers and thunderstorms become likely, with the overall chance of precipitation jumping to 60 percent.
