Tampa Drug Distributor Gets Over 20 Years In Federal Prison

TAMPA, Fla. – Mitchell Wilson, a 35-year-old Tampa resident, has been sentenced to over 20 years in federal prison for various drug and firearm offenses. U.S. District Judge Thomas P. Barber handed down the sentence after Wilson pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine and fentanyl, possessing a firearm in furtherance of drug trafficking, and possessing a firearm as a convicted felon.  

Court documents revealed that Wilson was a significant narcotics distributor in the Middle District of Florida.

He was caught selling fentanyl to a confidential source and later found in possession of substantial quantities of methamphetamine, fentanyl, cocaine, a scale, and a loaded firearm. Wilson admitted to sourcing over 2 kilograms of fentanyl and cocaine from a Palmetto Beach drug trafficking organization since his release from prison in 2021.

At the time of his arrest, Wilson had a drug ledger, cash, and was using a hotel room to prepare and distribute narcotics. He also had multiple prior felony convictions, including four drug trafficking offenses.

The case was investigated by the DEA, ATF, and Tampa Police Department and prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Samantha E. Beckman. It was part of an Organized Crime Drug Enforcement Task Force (OCDETF) operation aimed at dismantling high-level criminal organizations. Sources and related content
