Tampa Firefighters Battled Lowry Park Residential Blaze

TAMPA, FL. – Tampa Fire Rescue responded to a structure fire at the 1400 block of W. Sligh Ave. at 9:33 am on Monday.

Engine 11 was first on the scene and found a single-story residential house with heavy smoke showing from the roof and eaves of the residence. With zero visibility inside the home, our firefighters made a defensive attack on the fire.

Due to the heavy fire load inside the structure, the fire was under control within 2 hours. The residents were not home during the fire. There were no injuries to firefighters or civilians reported at the scene.

During the fire, west and eastbound lanes of W. Sligh Ave. were shut down between N. Oregon Ave. and N. Willow Ave.

Fire investigators were on the scene and the cause of the fire is under investigation.
