TAMPA, Fla. – A Tampa jury reached a decisive conclusion on Friday, convicting Isaiah Chance, Sean Gathright, Davion Murphy, and Rashad Murphy of first-degree murder for the killing of Charles Jones.
Known to fans as the Jacksonville rapper Julio Foolio, Jones was gunned down in what prosecutors described as a cold, coordinated execution. The verdict follows a high-profile trial that centered on a digital trail of evidence leading directly to the four men.
Over the course of two weeks, jurors were presented with a mountain of evidence, including surveillance footage of the shooting and a series of text messages between the defendants.
Location data proved pivotal, showing how the group methodically tracked Jones across multiple spots in Tampa before finally ambushing him at a hotel near the University of South Florida.

State Attorney Suzy Lopez, whose office led the prosecution, framed the case as a necessary stand against imported conflict.
“These defendants brought a gang war from Jacksonville into Hillsborough County, and their violence ends here,” Lopez said. “This guilty verdict delivers accountability and justice for Charles Jones’ family, but it also sends a clear message that this community will not tolerate ruthless and calculated violence.”
The legal team of Assistant State Attorneys Scott Harmon, Michelle Doherty, and Anna Ismer successfully argued that the murder was the result of a deliberate, planned effort rather than a random act of violence.
While the trial has concluded the guilt phase, the legal process is not yet over. The same jury is scheduled to return to the courtroom next week for the penalty phase.
At that time, they will weigh the evidence to determine if the four defendants should spend the remainder of their lives in prison or be sentenced to death.
