TAMPA, Fla. – A 28-year-old Tampa man lost his life early Monday morning following a single-vehicle accident on I-4 in Hillsborough County. According to reports from the Florida Highway Patrol, the fatal incident occurred around 2:25 AM near Milepost 1.
The man was driving a Dodge Durango westbound when he lost control of the SUV for unknown reasons. Investigators stated the vehicle veered into the median and overturned multiple times.
The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, was ejected from the vehicle as it rolled.
Emergency responders transported the driver to a local hospital, but he later died from the injuries he sustained in the wreck.

A 26-year-old Tampa woman was also in the vehicle at the time of the accident. Authorities noted that she was wearing her seatbelt, which likely contributed to her surviving the crash with only minor injuries.
The Florida Highway Patrol has not released the names of the individuals involved in the crash.
