TAMPA, Fla. – With Halloween night just around the corner, the Tampa Police Department (TPD) is taking proactive measures to ensure a safe and enjoyable celebration for the entire community, announcing an increased patrol presence across the city.

TPD is reminding residents and trick-or-treaters to prioritize safety and celebrate responsibly this year. Officers will be highly visible in neighborhoods and busy areas to maintain order and assist the public.

“Our officers will be out in full force to make sure everyone can enjoy Halloween safely,” said Chief Lee Bercaw. “We ask families to plan their evening in advance, stay in well-lit areas, and report any suspicious behavior immediately. A little preparation and awareness go a long way in keeping our community safe.”

The department emphasized several key safety guidelines for both pedestrians and drivers:

  • Plan Ahead: Know your trick-or-treating route before you leave home.
  • Stay Visible: Walk in well-lit areas and carry a flashlight or glow stick to increase visibility.
  • See Something, Say Something: Report any suspicious activity immediately by calling 911 or the non-emergency number at 813-231-6130.
  • Be Alert (Drivers): Motorists must slow down and remain vigilant for children crossing roadways, especially at dusk and after dark.
  • Travel Together: Young children should always be accompanied by an adult guardian.

The Tampa Police Department encourages everyone to stay alert, make safety a priority, and have a safe and wonderful Halloween.
