Tampa Police Bring Free Juneteenth Festivities To New Fair Oaks Complex

TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Police Department is gearing up to host its 3rd Annual Juneteenth Celebration. The free, family-friendly gathering is set for June 19, 2026.

The event will run from noon until 4:00 p.m. at the newly opened Fair Oaks Recreation Complex.

Anyone from the public is welcome to attend. The afternoon will feature a variety of local vendors and several nonprofit organizations. The department also plans to hand out special recognitions during the event.

Organizers say the yearly Juneteenth celebration gives the police department a valuable chance to strengthen its relationship with the local community.

The department’s Black History Committee is behind the gathering. The committee has been active for decades, hosting its very first Black History Month celebration back in 1988.

Since then, the group has focused on building rapport with residents through historical education, community events, and youth outreach. This includes awarding scholarships to high school students living in the city of Tampa.
