TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa detectives are scouring the city for a man who reportedly targeted an 82-year-old woman in a violent robbery last Friday night. The attack, which left the victim unconscious on the sidewalk, occurred around 7:45 PM near a bus stop at the intersection of W. Hillsborough Avenue and N. Habana Avenue.
According to police reports, the woman was walking past the suspect when he suddenly grabbed her by the hair and threw her to the ground. The force of the fall caused her to lose consciousness. While she was down, the assailant snatched her bag and sped away on a bicycle.
Emergency responders transported the victim to a nearby hospital. Authorities confirmed today that she has been released and is currently recovering from her injuries at home.

“This was a cowardly act of violence against an elderly member of our community,” Tampa Police Chief Lee Bercaw said in a statement. “Our detectives are using all available resources to identify and apprehend the suspect. We are committed to maintaining the safety of our residents, and this criminal will be held accountable for his actions.”
The suspect is described as a white male, standing roughly 6 feet tall. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a blue hat and a distinct white t-shirt featuring the slogan “No Christ No Life” on the front.
Investigators have released surveillance footage of the individual and are urging the public to take a close look at his appearance. Anyone who recognizes the man or has information regarding the incident is asked to call the Tampa Police Department at 813-231-6130.
