TAMPA, Fla. – The Tampa Police Department (TPD) is actively investigating a fatal roadway dispute and shooting that occurred on November 14 near the intersection of E 5th Avenue and N 22nd Street.
Detectives are working to establish the sequence of events that led to the shooting. Out of respect for the grieving family of the deceased and all those affected, the department is urging the community to avoid sharing unverified or inaccurate information online and to share any details responsibly. The TPD confirmed several key details regarding the investigation:
- Shooter’s Status Confirmed: Police confirmed that the shooter in this incident was not a current on-duty, off-duty, or retired Tampa Police officer, or other local law enforcement officer.
- Name Withheld: The name of the shooter is not being released at this time to ensure the integrity of the ongoing investigation.
- Working with State Attorney’s Office: Investigators are committed to a thorough and impartial investigation, gathering all facts, and are coordinating with the State Attorney’s Office to determine the appropriate course of action and what charges, if any, may apply.
- Family Coordination: Detectives are working closely with the deceased’s family as they determine the sequence of events.
