TAMPA, FL. — The Tampa Police Department (TPD) has identified the victim of a deadly shooting early Friday morning.

TPD said 14-year-old Nilexia Alexander, from Temple Terrace, was found dead in the 100 block of West Floribraska Avenue.

Police say Nilexia was listed as a runaway out of Temple Terrace,

“Our deepest condolences go to her family, loved ones, and friends.  As investigators continue their work to confirm her identity, they are also working to uncover the circumstances that led to her death,” said Tampa Police Department in a statement.

Officers were dispatched to the area just before 4 a.m. Upon arrival, officers found Alexander dead from multiple gunshot wounds.

Police said Alexander was known to spend time in the Jackson Heights area when she left her home in Temple Terrace.
