TAMPA, Fla. — A Tampa Police officer’s career is on the line following a DUI arrest late Saturday night. Kevin Casazza, a probationary officer with the department, was pulled over and taken into custody just before midnight on May 9, 2026.
The arrest occurred during a traffic stop on Interstate 275 near the Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd exit. Casazza was off-duty at the time of the encounter. Having joined the department in 2025, Casazza was still in the midst of his probationary training period.
Chief Lee Bercaw addressed the arrest on Sunday, emphasizing the department’s expectations for its staff.

“This incident is deeply disappointing,” Bercaw stated. “Every employee, on or off duty, is expected to hold themselves to the highest standards. That also includes our officers abiding by the same laws they swore to uphold.”
Following the arrest, Casazza was immediately relieved of duty.
While the criminal investigation into the driving under the influence charge proceeds, the Tampa Police Department has also initiated an internal investigation into the matter.
