TAMPA, Fla. – Ahead of the Thanksgiving holiday, the Tampa Police Department is partnering with a local non-profit organization to feed hundreds of residents in need in East Tampa.

On Sunday, November 20, 2022, from 2 PM to 5 PM, Tampa Police officers, along with volunteers from Children with a Vision, Incorporated, will serve free, hot Pre-Thanksgiving turkey dinners in the parking lot of the District III Office located at 3808 N 22nd Street in Tampa.

The event is open to everyone in the community.

“The last couple of years have been very difficult financially for many families, and with the current cost of groceries, buying and preparing a special meal this week may not be possible for some of our residents. We want to make sure they get to enjoy a holiday meal and use this as an opportunity to engage and connect with our community,” said Police Chief Mary O’Connor.

The organization is also planning to provide Thanksgiving baskets to more than 100 families, allowing them to prepare their own Thanksgiving meals.

This is the 20th anniversary of the organization’s Thanksgiving meal giveaway.
