Tampa Career Offender Sentenced To Over 12 Years For Meth And Fentanyl Trafficking

Derek Wallace, 46, Tampa, has been sentenced to to 12 years and 7 months in federal prison for possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine.

TAMPA, Fla. – Derek Wallace, 46, Tampa, has been sentenced to 12 years and seven months in federal prison for possession with the intent to distribute fentanyl and methamphetamine.

Wallace had pleaded guilty on November 29, 2022.

According to court documents, on January 5, 2022, Wallace arranged a drug transaction with a confidential source.

Officers arrested Wallace when he arrived at the transaction location, he had fentanyl and methamphetamine in his possession.

An additional 45 grams of fentanyl and 234 grams of methamphetamine were located in his residence. Wallace was on probation at the time.

This case was investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office. It was prosecuted by Assistant United States Attorney Samantha Beckman.
