SUMTER COUNTY, Fla. – A 40-year-old Tampa man was killed Sunday afternoon in a single-vehicle tractor-trailer crash on State Road 91 in Sumter County, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The crash occurred around 5:10 p.m. near mile marker 306.5.
FHP troopers reported that the man was driving southbound when he lost control of the tractor-trailer for unknown reasons. The vehicle veered off the road, entered the shoulder, and collided with a guardrail. The rig then struck several trees before coming to a final stop.
The driver sustained fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency personnel.
FHP has not publicly identified the victim, and the incident remains under investigation.
