Tampa Teen Arrested With Handgun At Area High School

TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa Police arrested Messiah Tyson today after he was found to have an unloaded handgun while on the school campus at Chamberlain High School.

The School Resource Officer assigned to Chamberlain was made aware that Tyson had an active warrant for Grand Theft Auto out of Hillsborough County.

When Tyson arrived at school late this morning, the School Resource Officer took him to the administrative office. During a search, Tyson was found to have an unloaded handgun. He was taken into custody, charged with Possession of a Firearm on School Grounds, and Minor in Possession of a Firearm. He was also arrested on an outstanding warrant.

There were no threats made to any individual or the school itself. Tyson was transported to the Juvenile Assessment Center.
