TAMPA, Fla. – A teenager died Saturday night after being struck by two vehicles while attempting to cross Dale Mabry Highway in Tampa. The Florida Highway Patrol reported that the incident occurred at approximately 9:50 PM on February 21, 2026, in the northbound lanes just north of Idlewild Avenue West.
According to state troopers, an 18-year-old Tampa man stepped into the path of oncoming traffic. He was first struck by a Lincoln MKZ driven by a 19-year-old Tampa woman. Immediately following the initial impact, the pedestrian was struck by a second vehicle, a Honda Civic, driven by a 66-year-old Tampa man.
First responders confirmed that the 18-year-old suffered fatal injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene. Authorities have not yet released the name of the deceased.
Both drivers remained at the site of the crash to cooperate with investigators.
The northbound side of the highway experienced significant delays throughout the night as crews worked the scene. The Florida Highway Patrol is continuing its investigation into the fatal collision.
