Tampa Teen On Electric Dirt Bike Dies After Collision With SUV In Spring Hill

Florida Highway Patrol reports the 17-year-old failed to stop and collided with a vehicle stopped in traffic in Spring Hill.

SPRING HILL, Fla. – A Tampa teenager has died from injuries sustained in a collision while riding an electric dirt bike, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol (FHP).

The incident occurred on Tuesday, September 9, at approximately 3:27 PM on Barclay Avenue, just south of Suncoast Villa Way.

According to the FHP report, a 17-year-old male was traveling northbound on Barclay Avenue on a Talaria electric dirt bike. Ahead of him, a GMC Acadia driven by a 56-year-old woman from Spring Hill was also heading northbound but was stopped in traffic.

The FHP states that the teen failed to stop and collided with the rear of the GMC Acadia.

The 17-year-old was transported to an area hospital with serious injuries. He passed away the following day, on Wednesday, September 10, as a result of the collision.

The driver of the GMC Acadia was not injured in the crash.
