TAMPA, Fla. – Tampa drivers should brace for daily delays on East Broad Street starting Monday morning. The Tampa Water Department is shutting down the eastbound lane between North Dixon Avenue and North Huntley Avenue to fix a broken water main.
The closure kicks off at 8:30 a.m. today, June 1, and will impact the area from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. every day this week. City officials expect to wrap up the repairs and restore normal traffic patterns by 4:30 p.m. on Friday, June 5.
Flaggers and barricades are being set up in the neighborhood to direct drivers around the work zone. City officials are asking commuters to stay alert and use extra caution when traveling through the area, noting that modifications to the traffic setup might happen as the repair progresses.
The entire project depends on the weather, and the city warned that crews might have to come back down the road to handle extra maintenance. If they do, the city will release a new traffic alert.
