Tampa Traffic Alert: Daily Lane Closures Hit East Hanna Avenue For Water System Repairs

TAMPA, Fla. – Drivers navigating the area near North 20th Street should prepare for a slower commute starting this morning.

The Tampa Water Department has announced that the westbound lane of East Hanna Avenue, stretching from North 20th Street to North 22nd Street, will be shut down daily to allow crews to perform essential maintenance on the local water distribution system.

The orange cones are scheduled to go out at 9:00 AM each morning. To help keep the evening rush moving, city officials confirmed that all lanes will be reopened to traffic by 4:00 PM daily. This cycle of morning closures and afternoon reopenings is expected to continue through the middle of the week.

To manage the flow of vehicles, the city has placed barricades and detour signs throughout the neighborhood. Drivers are being asked to stay alert and use extra caution when passing through the work zone.

Weather permitting, the Water Department expects the project to wrap up and traffic patterns to return to normal by 4:00 PM on Thursday, April 23.
