TAMPA, Fla. – A full road closure will be in effect for a busy section of South Howard Avenue as the Tampa Water Department conducts repairs on the city’s distribution system. Starting 9 a.m. today, April 27, all lanes are closed to through traffic between West Morrison Avenue and West Jetton Avenue.
The city will have barricades and directional signage throughout the SoHo area to manage traffic flow. Drivers are being advised to plan for delays, exercise caution near the work zone, and utilize alternate routes to bypass the closure.
The project is expected to wrap up by 4 p.m. tomorrow, Tuesday, April 28, at which point normal traffic patterns should resume. However, officials noted that work schedules remain contingent upon weather conditions and that the scope of the project may change as maintenance progresses.

While the road is scheduled to reopen on Tuesday afternoon, the Tampa Water Department indicated that crews may need to return to this specific location at a later date for additional repairs. “The staff and crews of the Tampa Water Department appreciate everyone’s patience during this time,” the department stated in a release.
Further updates will be provided by the city if the construction timeline is extended or if future closures are required.
